is showing an early understanding of that relationship. The MB/RS transitions away from the tape with control and, importantly, works to preserve useful distance from the setter before beginning the next attack. That connection remains present whether Plunkett is approaching in front of the setter or working toward the six. Maintaining proper separation gives the setter room to deliver and gives Plunkett room to complete the approach without becoming crowded underneath the ball. It sounds simple. In live action, it isn’t. Young attackers can easily drift toward the setter, chase the pass, or collapse their own approach lane as rallies become chaotic. Plunkett’s ability to keep that spacing provides a technical foundation from which more offensive possibilities can eventually grow. As tempo increases and her attacking repertoire develops, the relationship between transition, separation, and timing will become even more important. She’s already beginning to put those pieces in the correct order. ~Sophia Jeanpierre @prepdig_fl
