About Brooklyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a fast paced setter who likes to get to every ball. I have no trouble hitting the floor to keep the play alive. I pride myself on getting as many touches in every year to continue to enhance my level of play. I am a strong outside hitter - at both left and right sides and am a great defensive player with strong passing skills. Multi-faceted and can play any position except MB/MH!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I have grit. My happy place is on the court. As a setter, I like to take charge and run the offense, while being fully supportive of my teammates. I have high expectations for myself and always strive to be a better all around player. Pumping my teammates up is important to me as-is keeping the hype and intensity going on the court!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I have been playing at Illini Elite Volleyball Club since the age of 5. I have participated in multiple spring league seasons at the highest team level. I am looking forward to my first year at AAU's this summer (IEVBC starts taking teams to nationals at the 13U level).

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

High VB IQ. Strong teamwork and leadership skills. Ability to play through bad plays and reset for the next. Great court awareness. Strong academics.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The biggest diversity I faced was being with my mom while she fought cancer. Watching her battle through chemo, surgery, radiation, etc. while continuing to make it to all of our kids' games and events, showed me the grit that I need to put forth in my daily life!

What type of college are you looking for?

I don't have a set college in mind. My current favorite college is Nebraska, as is the response of a lot of teenage girls :) I want a place where I can go and find success early on in my college career.
