Loaded Talent at Spooky Nook

A great exhibition of talent was on display At Spooky Nook in Hamilton, OH this past weekend! With levels combined into one Select group for age we saw a mix of ages in all divisions. But we picked out a few local and out of state names you need to know who are more than worthy of mention! Mission Volleyball won Gold in the 17 Select Division and were well represented!    Ryanne(pictured) is a standout on the court, from her exuberance and energy to her plentiful talent, she is exciting to watch! Ryanne is the total package; she had a toolbox full of skill and wisdom that made her one of the top athletes we saw at our most recent tournament. She is super fast on the court with correct transitions off the net with great footwork and agility. Her reaction time to plays are incredible and she makes herself available! She is super productive on the front line with correct fundamentals including a great approach with perfect steps, a big arms wing to proper her height, a clean powerful swing with good contact and excellent ball control, placing balls deep, between the seams or down the line with an absolutely huge vertical. She is uber solid in her blocking with good form and reach and great timing. She has excellent court IQ and will keep balls in play with a stealthy tip, or by any means making huge contributions every set. She digs hard, covers well and is super supportive of her teammates on the court and off. We loved all aspects of her play, gamechanger on the court! Tournament top choice! Her most recent play we witnessed was as a setter a year above her age group, but that did not diminish her play! She is a weapon on the court with sound skills and a huge drive! She took to the role of setter with ease performing beautiful passes to the pins and middles, with a solid backset and total control of the court! She digs wholeheartedly putting in 110% getting to balls, puts in a solid block with good timing and reach and has one of the strongest swings on the court which she has refined with more control and accuracy to this point. Her serves are lethal and she finds the seams. An athlete that is absolute fire on any court!     Haydn is a dual athlete but brings her athleticism to the volleyball court with no doubt! A pin with good size Haydn brings a solid swing to the front line. She is vocal in calling for the play and delivers. She has great ball control behind a strong swing with excellent placement and trajectory getting on top of those passes to make great kills with a beautiful wrist snap. She can hit down the line or get deep to the corners for points with strong plays. She provides a solid block with excellent timing and reach and moves easily up and down the net. She tips with control and will dig tight balls to the net with ease. Love her play.     Another dual athlete that is super impressive on the court! Maleah gives an all-out effort on the court! We saw excellent use of judgement with her sets taking note of the opposition and setting the best teammate to get the job done. She has consistent even sets coming from a great platform with excellent hands getting under the ball with a smooth fast release whether across court or back setting. She is fast getting to the ball, will turn bad passes into smooth sets, and utilizes all her players adequately with great court IQ. She will perform a successful setter dump at opportune times and will get the ball digging hard to make the play. She serves consistently, shows perfect readiness on serve receive and runs a great court! Impressive play from this athlete!     Alex is making progress with leaps and bounds playing up in her age division! A sound DS she is also seeing some front row play. She shows excellent readiness on the court and moves easily to get the first contact passing up with accuracy and a great correct platform with perfect use of her shoulder angles and contact. She returns those hard hits and softens them up to return accurately with good control, will dig to on the back row to get the ball and is vocal with her teammates. She has an excellent serve with superb ball control and placement and delivers aces under pressure. She is an enthusiastic player with good court IQ that follows the play and can hold down the back row for her team! We can't wait to see more!
