Updated Class Of ‘27 Rankings Released TODAY: What To Expect

With all of the new additions (over 30!), stock risers and other athletes committing to colleges, there has been enough movement to feature 30 unique athletes this week. Here's how we break it down:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Each day has its own unique list of players we feature.</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For each day of “rankings week”, we group together five kids from five different clubs in each of the following categories: New (to us) Athletes, Stock Risers, Pin Attackers, Middle Blockers, Setters and Floor Defenders. Rankings week is HUGE for us, as we cover over 10% of the entire rankings list for the 2027 graduating class.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">None of the players written about this week have received commitments from colleges.</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Once an athlete receives a commitment from a school, our job is done, as we pride ourselves on talking about the <em>next</em> athlete. Anyone can see who the top players are in the state. But what about the under-the-radar kids? The grinders? The gym rats? We write about them all.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">These rankings are a prediction of “college readiness”, and are NOT a reflection of who they are NOW.</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Anyone can write about the best right NOW. But what about predicting futures? At PrepDig, that's all we do. Rankings reflect future prospects, which is what colleges are trying to predict as well when recruiting.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">These are opinion pieces, and not set in stone. All rankings on all of our Prep Network sites are subjective.</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Opinions vary, especially with these rankings. Accepting that fact alone will make this more fun for the adults involved. Things change, of course—-injury, club changing, position changing—-leading to changes in rankings. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">In short, be kind. This is about promoting the athletes.</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For the better part of five years now, I've been the face of the state of Indiana for PrepDig. Over those years, there have been many positive comments and suggestions sent to me in a very kind, supportive and helpful way. However, there's always a faction of folks that find it easier to be mean and unsupportive to me, to other athletes or to other clubs. Let me make this crystal clear: WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY DEROGATORY, INSULTING OR MEAN-SPIRITED COMMENTS DISGUISED AS HELP. This is an opinion piece, and nothing more.
