About Evangeline

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am well aware of what is happening on the court and I am fast to get to the ball. I am quick to release from my defensive position to zone seven. While setting, I am able to move the ball around and find who the hot hitter is for each match.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am quick to get out of my head and cheer up my teammates if they are upset. I am very locked in when I am playing but still am able to cheer others on at the same time.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

In school, I am in a club called Friendship Connections. Each month we have parties with special needs kids to help them feel involved at school. I am still looking in to doing more clubs next year at my school because this year I wanted to focus on getting myself into the swing of high school before doing anything else. Outside of sports and school, I volunteer with the Orland Park,park district.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned many skills revolving leadership on and off of the court. I try to lead others on the court to success even if they aren’t having a long day. I have learned to respect their boundaries as well as help them as much as I can. I believe that teamwork is one of the biggest skills in volleyball and that to be a team, everyone has to work together and cheer each other on to succeed.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The biggest challenge I have faced has been switching club teams two years ago. I lost my love for the game and slowly I was able to come back again. I am very grateful for my club now (Ultimate) for helping me succeed in the game and be able to grow both physically and mentally after a hard time at my old club.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am not sure at the moment fully what I want in a college but I know that I want to be able to focus on my studies as well as having time to have fun playing volleyball. I don’t want volleyball to get in the way of school because I know I won’t be in it forever but I want to leave it behind with a long lasting happy memory.
