As far as viral and fun debates go, one question always seems to come up: what's the hardest position to play? One answer never goes away the ever entertaining middle. Call it middle hitter, middle blocker, or just the setter's workhorse stuck in traffic (haha, come on, you know it's true). More and more players are embracing the challenge, choosing to own the position and master it on their own terms. The demands are constant lateral movement, timing, communication, and the ability to impact the match without always touching the ball.

This tournament was no different. From pool play through bracket action, there was no shortage of standout middles competing from start to finish. They ran the core, closed seams, punished quicks, and stayed relentless at every point. Whether it was stuffing the block or making themselves available in transition, these 14s middles showed just how valuable the position can be when played with confidence and purpose.

[player_tooltip player_id='966650' first='Skylar' last='Coppinger'] | M/RS | [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'] 14 Red - True swiss army blade, she is a do it all type. Can fill many spots on the floor for you. Very active, skilled, versatile, and smart. Very impressive serving game.

Mia Spacucello | MB | Ultimate G14 Gold - This one is potential and growth in real time. Long, long, and possibly getting longer. A block party, if you ever needed it. She has a great sense for the ball and timing. Mobile and active.

Helena Ind | MB/MH | Chicago Elite 14 Elite - A major presence, quiet assassin. She lets her game speak for her. She creates walls on defense, and attacks are precise and thunderous.

Callia Plotner | M/RS | [program_tooltip program_id='429165' first='Starz' last=''] 14 Blue - Callia was driven all weekend; she made sure to stay disciplined and push her team. Has a great read on the ball, court awareness, and the ability to take the ball out of the setter's hands. Quick approach and snap.

Emma Evans | MB | Chicago Elite 14 National - Emma is solid in her foundation in all parts of her game. Strongest may be her reading of the floor and the impactful way she plays the net with her defense. Good hands and feet, and presses consistently.

Sona Harrison | MB/MH | Chicago Elite 14 Nike - Textbook at the moment, sounds regular, but she is very good. Once she gains a better understanding of herself and greater confidence, she will be even more of a difference-maker. She presses consistently, quick to the attack, continuously staying active on every play.

Julia Andrzyk | MB/MH | Ultimate G14 Gold - Julia is a force in every aspect. Her demeanor is pure determination and grit. Footwork is admired, swing that is as forceful as any power hitter. Transition side to side to get touches on balls.

[player_tooltip player_id='966713' first='Brooke' last='Knapik'] | M/RS | [program_tooltip program_id='432009' first='Sky' last='High'] 14 Red - A hybrid at the position, very athletic and very springy recoil. Using her athleticism to contest attacks on the opposite side every play or get her hand on the ball. She is an impressive attacker, has a quick snap that packs a punch you aren't ready for.

Gillian Hamilton | M/RS | DuPage Elite 14 United - Gillian may just be scratching the surface and taking control of the middle. Playing off sheer instinct and athleticism, but those are great assets for this player. Solid footwork, technique, and textbook skills. Confidence will put her in orbit.

Mia Swedlow | M/RS | Chicago Elite 14 Swoosh - Another hybrid athletic middle. Mia's ability to adjust and attack from anywhere on the court makes her impressive. Her approach, regardless of tempo, without stumbling, is admirable. Good IQ for the game.

Emma Stetler | MB/MH | Mindset Premier 14 Red - Emma might be a prototype for the middle position if there is one. Size, athleticism, footwork, movement, tough, and strong. She plays to win, every possession, every set, everyone else's too, because she wants it. She has a good foundation in skills and is very consistent in play.
