About Adalynn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Dynamic setter with strong court awareness, defensive versatility and the ability to impact matches through serving, ball control and offensive decision making. Ball distributions and being ready for attacks in system and out of system is invigorating. I also take great pride in my arm speed and ability to make solid contact on attacks.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I take pride in being the energy bus of my team. The last three years I've been voted as most spirted on the team. My job is to uplift my team, stay positive and make them all look good by putting them in the best position to succeed.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm involved in best buddies, environmental scient club, fellowship of Christian athletes (FCA), interact club (community service) and student council. I have also received two academic awards at school board meeting for my IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness).

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

From 5 years of setting, I have developed many leadership skills. The first one that comes to mind is servant leadership, putting team over myself. Also, the importance of being vocal with my team, directing them to the right positions and calling out other's teams tendencies. Grit is also critically important for me, I truly believe we are never out of a game. I will always lead by example.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

A main challenge this year, was not having enough players for our team because of several multi-sport athletes. Several tournaments we had only 6. I had to show strength and grit so that I could play to my full potential and help the team the best I could. As a setter, it's similar to parenting. When things are going right, there's little to no credit, when going wrong, all fingers point to you

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college where I can showcase my skills and further my education. My goal is to be surrounded with coaches and players who not only say the right things but do the right things. Character is very important to me. Additionally, I'm looking for a school to build strong connections with that can last a lifetime and help me on my path for once school/volleyball is over.
