About Abby

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a libero, I play with quick reactions and smart defense, focusing on controlling the ball and reading the hitters to help the team's passing and to give as many opportunities as possible to my setter.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm a competitive and driven player who always wants to win, but when it comes to hard losses is when I really give my all into learning and growing from them to become a better player. Overtime I’ve also learned that a next-point mentality is very important as an athlete to keep a positive mindset and to excel to my fullest potential on the court.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Not yet, but as the beginning of a new school year approaches, I plan to join a few clubs and try new things to expand my interests and meet new people!

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As an athlete, I've gotten really good at teamwork and talking to my teammates. I'm always guiding people where to go on the court when I spot something on the opposing side, which helps us play better defense. I've also learned to be a leader by keeping everyone positive, and reassuring people when they’re down so our team can thrive together.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

In volleyball I face mini challenges everyday that help me to grow as an athlete, but one challenge that has effected my volleyball career recently is my ankle injury that has made it difficult for me to preform my best at times. But I have taken this as an opportunity to push myself to not only recover, but grow from it.

What type of college are you looking for?

As I still have some time before I look deeper into specific colleges, I'm open to exploring different types of college programs that offer a strong balance of academics and competitive volleyball.
