Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
Covalt’s consistent excellence helped bring Seward to the top tier of an ultra-competitive Class B field. As a sophomore, she seized a full-time libero role and never relinquished her status as the team’s defensive leader. Covalt’s 4.8 digs per set this season punctuated her third consecutive season of posting a mark above four. We’re eager to see this elite defender take her talents to Northwestern College at the next level.

The Seward libero is getting back to business. Covalt’s 5.8 digs per set this year is impressive, but the Bluejay senior is also eclipsing big career marks. She just surpassed 1,000 career digs after seizing Seward’s contrasting jersey as a sophomore. That individual success has translated to team breakthroughs, including last year’s appearance in the Class B quarterfinals. Covalt is ready to embrace another fall grind against some of Nebraska’s best attackers.

Another small-town prep star enters the spotlight–this time, with Nebraska ONE . Covalt has made her mark with Seward High School in a prep tenure that has featured multiple state tournament appearances. Her impact with Nebraska ONE 17 Black has been similarly impactful. We saw Covalt make big strides at last month’s Northern Lights Qualifier, and she remains locked in for the Power League grind. 17 Black figures to be a strong passing team this year with Covalt being the best of the bunch. Let’s see if another qualifier run is in their future.

Seward’s defensive star is becoming the model of consistency. Covalt polished off another stat-stuffing season by racking up close to 500 digs and a wealth of perfect passes that can’t be reflected by a box score. Her prowess as a secondary setter also evolved, which allowed the Bluejays to remain terminal in out-of-system situations. We’ll now look forward to the club season, a venue where Covalt should continue to shine.

Back to Seward. The Bluejays have some successful attackers along the net, but we can’t forget about Covalt’s role in helping those players shine. Covalt was one of our biggest 2025 stock risers during the club season when she patrolled the end line for Nebraska ONE . She’s now solidifying Seward’s floor defense with over four digs per set, and we could see that excellence on the state tournament stage yet again.

Now, let’s address one of the other anchors to Nebraska ONE 16 Black’s ball control. Covalt is building off a spectacular 2022 high school campaign by locking down the libero position for 16 Black. Her serve receive and floor defense are equally strong, meaning Covalt does just about everything you’d hope to get out of your libero.

Nebraska ONE has some serious defensive depth at the 16s level. Covalt joins the club’s 16 Black group from Seward, and this talented libero has proven herself through some year-round stat-stuffing prowess. After leading the Bluejays to a state championship appearance last fall, Covalt stayed in her groove and elevated Nebraska ONE’s defensive in early-season club action. The Presidents’ Day Classic in Omaha was a recent reminder of what this small-town gem can accomplish.
