About Abree

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay style really depends on the game situation. I love smart plays like power tips to open spots on the court but also love full on swings trying to put it down. My all favorite is blocking and getting up. All together I just love the game and the energy it brings with it.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Personally I’m a very shy person off the court and like to help others, but I have a hype and loud personality on the court. Mentally I’m very hard on myself because I know my potential and what I can do, but I’ve learned throughout the years is next ball and next play. Shake off your mistake and make the next play, not only for you but also for your team.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m involved in FCA and Pep Club.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve learned leadership by being team captain and being on teams with mostly younger and developing girls. Always let them know mistakes are 100% okay, but there’s also smarter plays and they got it next time! I’ve also learned accountability, I’ve learned to step up and blame myself for my own mistakes and nobody else.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

A significant challenge I have faced was when I sprained my ankle during volleyball practice and was out for 5 months. As most people know sprains are worse than breaks and take longer to heal and not only was I out of volleyball, I was also out of my 2 over sports, softball and basketball.

What type of college are you looking for?

The type of college I’m looking for is of course a welcoming college that will feel like home and a family. Also a college that takes education seriously along with a good athletics and surrounded with a supportive community for all athletes.

Ganns sends balls to the side lines and corners regularly for big points. Ganns also times up her blocks well. Ganns had 121 kills and 48 aces to help Danville make it to the 12th Region Tournament.
