About Abygail

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I tend to play off my athletic instincts most. I was a dual athlete for many years and played competitive softball for some time. I am an all-around court player. I favor OH but can play all positions. I like the fast pace of volleyball. I have solid anticipation on the court and effective reaction time. I play for every point and try to not pay attention to the score. Every point matters!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Many would describe me an optimistic, bubbly, kind, and humble. I am outgoing and do not have any issues meeting new people. I like to try new things and tend me on the more adventurous side. I went to a high school where I knew no one and was elected to a highly respective Student Government Position after beating out and running against 9 other students.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in Student Government and was elected Freshman and Sophomore Class Chaplain by my peers. I do morning announcements at my school and often lead the school in prayer. I am also the Best Buddies Club Sponsor. Best Buddies foster friendships between individuals with and without a disability. I have received the Best Buddies Excellent Leader Award this year for my work in outreach.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I LOVE community service and outreach. I have managed and organized many projects over the years to include: Operation Christmas Child, Clothing Drive, Friendship Walk Team Lead, Feeding The Homeless. I have also led numerous Bible Studies. I enjoy motivating my peers to get involved and excited to serve the less fortunate.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Having my brother go off to college last year was very hard for me. He is my best friend and we did EVERYTHING together. He plays football out of state so I don't get to see him every often. He never missed any of my sporting events and was my biggest fan! I miss him very much but so proud of how well he is doing at college and on the football team. It has taught me to be grateful for my family.

What type of college are you looking for?

Small Division 1 or Division 2 in the Southeast.
