It’s hard to believe that a two-time 4A state champ starting middle is still available at this time of year, yet here we are. Addi is a springy and terminal middle that takes advantage of her speed and explosiveness against bigger blockers. She’s smart too—-on some occasions, when the set isn’t perfect, she “betters” the ball by placing her attack into an open space. This low-risk, high-reward middle can add to a middle hitting positional group at the next level immediately, and would be a steal for anyone needing just that.

Late to the recruitment party but fully capable of playing at the next level, Addi is a springy M2 that already has 200 career blocks for 4A defending champ Carroll. Addi jumps well, read-blocks with speed and uses all of her 5’11” frame to defend from pin to pin with ease. On offense, she’s always available to hit, and has every attack angle to work with because of her instincts and athleticism. She doesn’t look for accolades and doesn’t toot her own horn—-all she does is her job, WELL, and at an open level to boot.

Quick, springy and a cannon for a right arm, Addi is one of two state champions on today’s list. She’s fully capable of going for a zero tempo set in front of the setter AND can put away quick slides to all angles. Her 5’10” frame is underestimated, as her long arms help shut down attackers better than some middles many inches taller than she. I’m a huge fan of the quick transition and athleticism—a lot of the middles she beats are bigger, but certainly not stronger, faster or more athletic. Her future can be either as an M1 or an M2 that would significantly upgrade the stable of middles in a college program ready to coach Miss Shippy up.

One of TWO state champions on this list, Addi is a springy and quick-footed middle that can play either position, but is best suited for the M2 spot in the starting six. Able to hit all angles and attack much higher than expected, Addi’s steady reliability and consistent readiness to hit are calling cards for her play. On the block, her length is deceptive, as it is much longer than her 5’10” frame might otherwise indicate. Personally, you can’t go wrong with a winner who’s an athlete, and Addi fits the mold. Scratch that—she IS the mold.

For an undersized middle, Addi is a more than capable M2 for the next level because of her speed in transition and jumping ability alone. Always ready to hit and already owning the 4A State Championship trophy, Addi’s capabilities might lead her to a system that has strong pin attackers around her. She’s not the takeover middle that dots this list, but she’s that role-playing middle that every college needs to keep defenses honest. As far as defense is concerned, she covers the net from pin to pin as well as the rest of this list, which is filled with bigger kids that all play high-level ball. In short, you could do a lot worse than Addi in the recruiting department.

Springy and quick-footed, Addi is an undersized and under appreciated middle that can attack both in front of and behind the setter in any situation. Her athleticism, along with her high volleyball IQ, allow her to hit well north of .300 during the high school season, where she earned a 4A state championship with the Chargers. Playing at smaller-than-average Summit, Addi is a diamond-in-the-rough type of middle that does the dirty work necessary to not only be a serviceable middle at the next level, but highly recruitable as well.

Not as tall but just as explosive as Maddie (listed above), Addi is the only state champ on this list and was a major factor in the Charger offense this season. Her ability to transition quickly gets her in the air faster than the slower, bigger blocks she might go against. I’m also a fan of her net defense, where she uses her legs more than most to defend from pin to pin with ease. Miss Shippy is also fully capable of playing either middle position, and is just as terminal in front of the setter as she is behind.
