About Alana

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

High flyer with power as an outside hitter, cat-like agility and quickness as a Libero/DS, & strong server with versatility & accuracy. Dry strong overall player who is equally skilled as an attacker or defender.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Competitive person who is vocal and outgoing with very strong training habits and very coachable. Unselfish so have learned to embrace role that is best for team’s success. High energy, focussed, while being able to remain loose/relaxed.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Student Government

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Developed leadership skills as a member of volleyball, track, & softball teams because I’ve moved into new areas and had to earn respect of all my teammates as well as trust thru actions but also in developing relationships. Done several community related projects with teammates & thru school which have allowed me to connect with others outside of sports and help me change lives in a positive way

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Daughter of a coach so have moved a lot so always had to restart from bottom to establish myself in sports but also in building relationships with people. Forced me to adapt to different coaching styles, different roles then what I was accustomed to, & also allowed me to thrive in new areas outside of my comfort zone. Played Libero for most of career & moved to OH as 5’6” girl but made Varsity

What type of college are you looking for?

Schools with strong volleyball tradition at developing players and competing at the National Level. Schools with strong academic foundations because my parents are both Duke Graduates.
