About Alexis

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would describe myself as a determined, player who never gives up on a ball. As someone who has played all positions expect setter I understand what everyone on the court is focused on and what they are trying excel at. Currently playing Libero I will chase down every ball to even get a touch and never give up on a play. A ball isn't dead until it hits the ground.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

On and off the court, I'm not one to give up. If I'm in something I will always give it my all. On the court I'm always calm and I pride myself on never crying, pouting or getting upset if I don't get playing time, trusting my coaches are making the decision best for the team. My teammates and coaches have told me they like how encouraging I am no matter what the score is.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Academically I have always performed well, keeping my grades up and working towards high set goals. I have received Honor Society throughout middle school and an Student-Athlete and the end of season my freshman year.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I was involved in ASB in school and that has taught me leadership skills and how to help others without being negative towards them. I understand that being a leader is not bossing people around but rather encouraging them and lifting them up when they are down. I currently have the honor of being team captain for my school team.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced some mental health challenges in the past and been diagnosed with a chronic illness, but it has never affected my ability to play. I am grateful that my illness still allows to be on the court. Even on some of my hardest days when I am on the court and with my team I do not allow my personal challenges to affect the team and my attitude towards my coaches and teammates. I

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college in California, since that is where I live now and where my family is. My goal to play D1 volleyball at a school with respected academics and not of a small size.
