About Ali

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a dynamic player who likes to finish the rally. I work hard and am not afraid of a challenge. I appreciate all levels of the game, from high intensity and fast tempo; to playing with my friends in gym class. I believe I have some strong offensive and blocking skills but am focused on always improving. My hope for this season is to get better at defense and be a good teammate.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe I am kind, respectful, cooperative and supportive. In school, I am dedicated to learning and being focused in the classroom. My classmates often describe me as quiet and shy. However, at home, and on the court, I bring energy, excitement, positivity, and a loud voice. I can stay focused on the competition and my performance and do not let mistakes overtake me.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Varsity Track and Field (sprinting and high jump) Junior High Student Council School Choir Church Youth Group Working toward Junior Lifeguard Certification Volunteer at church and in the community

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Being an 8th grader on the High School Varsity team guided me to be confident in my skills and abilities and recognize we can all contribute to the team in important ways. I believe I am a leader for my peers, listen well, communicate well, and am able to be confident in my interactions.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Sometimes I experience fear on the court when we play against hard teams or older players. I overcome that fear quickly by knowing that my teammates are there, I am confident in my abilities, and I am there to do my job on the court. I've also experienced minor injuries that have led me to take care of my body and work harder on injury prevention.

What type of college are you looking for?

I think I would like to attend a larger school. I do not have a preference for a certain state at this time.

I love lefty attackers so I was definitely captivated the first time I saw Tollefson take a big swing from the right pin. Tollefson has quick footwork and a big, explosive approach that allows her to deliver hard cross and line shots with power. She is a go to attacker for her team and they rely on her to generate big kills to get out of tense situations. Tollefson is also a solid defender. I was impressed with both her blocking and off blocker defense.
