About Amara

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm the type of player who likes to get things done. I enjoy my time on the court but when it comes down to it, I stay serious, always aiming to lead my teammates and myself to victory. I don’t get in my head often, and when I make mistakes, I'm ready to fix them on the next play. I listen to feedback from my coaches and teammates to improve my game.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

On and off the court, I'm a very supportive teammate. I love hyping my peers up when they do great things and succeed. Even when someone is down, I always find a way to help them out. I like to find the goodness in everything and figure out ways to make things better. Another thing is that I never doubt myself. When I mess up, I always find a way to fix it and improve.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am apart of my High School Choir and i’m apart of the Chorus Council Advisory Board. I am also apart of my schools Black Student Union. I received a SPARK award for demonstrating leadership, inclusive, generous, honest, and thinker.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I was captain on my U16’s club season last year.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm aiming for a D1 or D2 public school. I'm flexible with the location but would like to see diversity in my school.

While undersized in the middle Amara puts a lot of air between her shoes and the floor to put the ball away. She moved from our watch list to number 130 in the rankings. Her middle play proved a significant role in leading Loudoun Elite to their first national bid in club history.

For her high school Lightridge she led her team in blocks and finished second in kills with a hitting percentage of .247. She runs the quick tempo sets in the middle well.

The first thing you notice about Amara is her jump when playing the middle. She gets her hands high over the net to put up an effective block, despite her 5’10” height. Her block touch reaches over 9 feet. She also uses that jump to effectively hang high to bang the quick sets in the middle.

Last year Amara earned significant playing time for Lightridge. She led the team in blocks and finished second in kills

Loudoun Elite Marissa has earned a trip to the Junior Nationals in the Freedom Division. It will be the first appearance ever for a Loudoun Elite team. Amara playing the middle plays a significant part in that success.
