About Amaya

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I hustle for every ball, and am very determined.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I usually can find a balance between having fun but also focusing and playing well. I am very competitive and have determination to get better everytime I touch a ball.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am apart of scout buddies, which is a club in helping kids with mental and physical disabilities. I learn how to work with them and have fun.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned to be a leader when my team is down and learned that communication is very important. I have also developed to be more patient and think of others and try to empathize.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Yes, I had to move from Puerto Rico to Chicago in the suburbs. It was very hard because I didn’t know anyone and was very scary. I had to start to play at a complete new club and had to get use to speaking english a lot more.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where I can have fun and where I can always go outside and have fun outdoors. I definitely want to learn a lot but still be able to go out with my friends. Of course, a place where they take volleyball seriously and have a welcoming environment.
