About Amelia

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Overall, I’m assertive and sometimes I’m aggressive when I need to be.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I’m always focused and I give 100% in the gym or on the court. I take a positive lead and help my teammates by remaining uplifting and encouraging. I strive to communicate well and remain organized as I believe with these qualities I can be successful and be an asset to a team.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I've been awarded my previous school's highest character award four times. I’m involved in Future Business Leaders for America, National English Honors Society, Fellowship of Christian Althetes and Surf & Skim Club.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

A couple years ago, my beach volleyball coach recommended I read a book called “Mind Gym”. I now read it every season. It’s helped me with mind set, mental toughness and leadership. I’m also a leader in my club FCA. I've been voted by my teammates or selected by my coaches as Team Captain every season I've played volleyball.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

Three years ago, my father almost died at a volleyball tournament. We found out he has cancer. Two years after that, I lost my grandmother who I was very close to at the beginning of my 14u club season. I've faced adversity with changeling situations in my life during volleyball seasons and I persevered choosing to move forward, work hard, and train despite what life was throwing my way.

What type of college are you looking for?

My dream is to play competitive college volleyball while obtaining a prestigious college education.
