I had the chance to actually coach up the young Anika when she was going through some positionals. With all of that length (nearly 6′ tall, if not taller) and the ability to jump well, her arm swing needed some tweaking. After an adjustment or two, she was easily coached into an on-the-spot fix that saw immediate results. This shows me (1) coachability and (2) the athleticism to make the fix quickly, neither of which is easy to come by these days.

It’s not often that I do a preview on players from other states, but Anika is certainly worth the column space. High and hard and hitting all angles, Anika is long and lean for days, and can be a tough out for opponents either trying to defend her or going against her impressive block. In footage I’ve seen of her, she’s not had a lot of in-system play—-leading me to believe that she’s more than capable of it, as her video footage is her terminating on less-than-perfect sets and out-of-system play. She does have some strength to build in the coming years, but already has the volleyball acuity to make up for it.

Schrock has a lot of length to work with in her limbs. I love that she uses every inch of those long limbs to help her terminate the ball with authority. She accelerates into her approach and executes, Schrock is crazy good with a long reach that makes her block daunting. On the offensive side, she has a high contact to work over blockers.
