Bates can track down balls a number of different ways. She steps back and makes quality over head passes with balls above her head and gets her hands on balls to keep plays alive. Bates reads hitters well and stops in her tracks to make sound two to three-point passes. Bates only lunges when needed. Her ball control needs some work, but it has come around.
