About Anya

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am an aggressive team mindset player. I am one of the captains of our team, so its my responsibility to motivate the rest of the team. I throw my body all over the court as a Libero/DS, to keep plays active.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

If you asked my coaches, I believe they would say that I have the strongest work ethic on the team, extremely motivated and very coachable! I hate to lose, more than I like to win!

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Holding my teammates accountable has been a big growth of the leadership position that my club has trusted me to do. I'm asked to have tough conversations with my teammates, if they are showing signs of not being 100% bought into the concept of 'team' over anything else.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My family and I were impacted by the Los Angeles Fires, where our home was very close to being burned down. Luckily, the First Responders were able to save our neighborhood, but we were evacuated for 15 days and was very scared that we were going to lose everything.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm hopeful to attend a larger university, as I have two older siblings attending SEC/B1G Conference schools. I can appreciate the total college experience and can't wait to learn more about them. However, since I'm only in 9th grade, I've made sure to keep all of my options open, as my view could change over the next few years!
