Lyssy will set for the Alamo 18 Premier team that will compete in Bryan this weekend. She’s a new addition to the team, having joined from San Antonio Magic , and immediately strengthened the team at the setter position. Lyssy is an outstanding playmaker, who has a great touch on the ball and thrives by accelerating the game to the pins without losing precision. A true all-around player, she takes on hitting duties when at the net with great efficiency, blocks at a high level and is also a great asset on the backcourt with her ability to get opponents out of system with her serves and her defensive production.

Lyssy was one of the key players of the SA Magic 17 Elite team that ended the event with five wins and three losses. Splitting her time between setting and hitting duties on the right, she was involved with the team’s game on several different levels and performed very well during the day. Lyssy used her length extremely well offensively, but it was her vision that made of her a prolific point-scorer as she used it to find good spots in difficult plays and to find solutions when she didn’t have enough time to make a full offensive approach during rallies. She also did a very good job with her blocking, playing aggressively at the net.

A tall setter at 5’10”, Lyssy used to split her time between setting and hitting duties, but has concentrated her efforts mostly on her ballhandling with the SA Magic 16 Elite team that will play in the 16 Bid division in Houston. She has an excellent touch on the ball and uses the energy generated by her body when she jumpsets to push the ball to the pin or to accelerate the game. Defense is another strength in Lyssy’s game as she does a great job in getting digs from her right back position. The setter also has a very efficient serve, which often gets opponents out of system.

Lyssy has emerged as a promising setter in the area and will represent SA Magic 16 Elite in the 17-18 Girls Division. She has excellent ball control and is great at moving to the ball when setting, a combination that gives her the ability to consistently set well. Her technical gesture when setting shows how well-trained she’s been Lyssy is also capable of causing great impact on defense, most notably because of her excellent reading and positioning.
