What stood out to me about Ava was how dynamic she is. She mixed up her shots on nearly every swing. There was never a moment when she was predictable. She put up a solid block that got consistent touches for her defense behind her. Ava did a lot of the little things right, including being explosive in transition and always making herself available on offense.

Close-Boyd was tabbed as a Top Performer at the SLC Showdown Showcase; the junior outside hitter is long and rangy with a whippy arm swing. Court coaches liked how the 2026 prospect worked hard on every rep, and another mentioned her ability to transition and urgently get her feet set on each approach. Close-Boyd continued her dynamic play in the tournament, ripping kills to the hard angle and dropping in smart off-speed shots when she saw an opening.

Close-Boyd was an all-league player for Charles Wright and has continued her excellent play for PSVBA 16 Legacy during club. She has strong hands as a blocker, swings with high, hard contact and can easily play either pin. Close-Boyd and her PSVBA team come into ECC seeded 13th in the 16 Open.
