Dotson’s middle dominance drew instant attention last weekend. She dented the floor during positional drills, establishing herself as an eye-popping terminator in hitting lines. Then, Dotson proved she could maintain her effectiveness while squaring up against opposing blockers. She was not shy about challenging any hands in front of her, and Dotson’s influence was not limited to the middle, either. Even some reps at opposite would not disrupt Dotson’s rhythm.

Dotson gave us a valuable glimpse at the next wave of stars at Optimum Volleyball Club. Since then, Dotson and her squad have logged multiple top-ten finishes on the qualifier circuit. OVC 15-1 takes full advantage of Dotson’s length and explosiveness, and this Liberty freshman can kill the ball in various ways. She has made big strides as a slide hitter to bolster OVC’s firepower behind the setter. It’s a perfect storm of skills for this under-the-radar athlete.

The middle blocker spot was a clear highlight of our showcase stay. As if we haven’t talked enough about physically imposing frontcourt standouts this week, Dotson enters the mix with her own brand of power and precision. She works tirelessly in transition to become an available attacker in front of the setter, opening up her team’s options after a well-placed dig. Dotson also contributes to the defense through her positive block touches and ability to close seams from pin to pin. She will join forces with Fenwick to create a formidable duo in the Optimum stable.
