This PHP big brought Manchester to new heights this fall, which also earned her a commitment to D3 Case Western Reserve and the uber-tough UAA conference. Able to do all the heavy lifting a middle needs to do, Ava’s ability to terminate at multiple angles from in front of the setter has slowly improved to the point of being (at times) indefensible. Length is her strength, as her block is just as developed as her attack.

Ava’s size and strength combination on one of the top 17s teams in the midwest is a nice marriage of need and skill. Being over six feet tall certainly helps—her long arms and quick transition approach allow her to put away balls as an M2 regularly. On defense, she takes up space on the block despite being narrow in the shoulders. Most of the athletes on this roster are already committed, so seeing Ava play up to her competition while seamlessly working well with her setter and teammates makes her a prime candidate for being committed, and soon.

Just like her picture here, the first thing I noticed about Ava was her smile and excitement to just be at the Expo, getting to play volleyball. I LOVE that in a player – knowing from their body language that they want to be in the gym competing and getting better, and they’re not just there because someone made them be. Felgar is clearly a high-level middle seeing that she made the Team Pineapple High Performance team this club season, an awesome accomplishment. She has a really high reach which allows her to hit a one ball over and around the block, terminating at a really efficient rate as long as her setter gets the ball high enough for her high touch point. Ava worked hard every single time in transition and blocking. As she improves her footwork and lateral speed on the block, look for her to become a serious wall at the net. PS This class of ’26 MB is uncommitted and looking ready!
