Yutan High School was one of the biggest stories of last year’s tournament, ending Johnson County Central’s undefeated season in the quarterfinal round. It’s perhaps even more impressive that the No. 8 seed was aided by a do-everything freshman with enormous stat-stuffing potential. Frye piled up numbers in every category as setter-opposite, finishing with over 3.4 assists per set, 2.2 digs per set, and over 100 total kills in 2025. It’s a rare niche for a first-year player, but Yutan wasn’t afraid to defy some trends.
