I wrote about Groeteke being one of the top uncommitted seniors in Iowa back in August. After watching her again at the Westside Invite in Cedar Rapids on Oct. 11, 2025, I still was scratching my head as to why that still was the case. Groeteke continues standing out as a two-way opposite pin with room to grow before reaching her potential. She’s steadily improved throughout her prep career, this season ranking second on the Maroons in kills with 151 through 72 sets, just seven behind the leader. Her 39.0 blocks also ranked second on the squad. With a .265 hitting percentage, Groeteke is reliable on the right side. Her height and long arms work to her advantage as does her explosion off of the court, vertical leap, hang time and powerful swing.

Groeteke ranked among the Maroon leaders in kills and blocks during the last two seasons. That’s not easy to do in a program that produces top players annually. Groeteke is tall with long arms and impressive leaping ability. All of that helps her generate power in her swing and defend at the net. Groeteke should be able to add power once involved in a college strength and conditioning program. She seems like a no-brainer for schools on the next level needing an opposite pin. Already productive, she has room to grow and develop in college.

I’ve scouted Groetke in high school and club the last few years. Her ascent has been fun to observe as her hard work as helped her maximize her natural gifts. Groeteke impacts matches at the opposite pin. Her height, long arms and lefty swing add up to her being a dangerous attacker. Groeteke has improved her consistency in getting the ball down. She’s also an effective defender at the net. Good timing and leaping ability lead to Groeteke being an obstacle for opposing attacks. She cranked out 162 kills (.212) and piled up 64.0 blocks as a Dowling junior last season. Those numbers should spike in 2025.
