Heavy-hitting and strong, Ava is a solid three-rotation attacker for the next level. Although she lists herself as an “everywhere” type of hitter, her future lies with her taking advantage of her jumping ability on the left pin and terminating. Her physicality got her this far, as being an athlete first got her familiar with all of the attacking positions, without much training on the defensive side. Yes, Ava might be a collegiate project, but with her size, strength and jumping ability, she’s a nice redshirt candidate that will wreck havoc in the practice gym, making everyone around her better.

A multi-sport kid with so much potential, Ava has strength, physicality, power and a relentless motor that can’t be taught. I haven’t seen as much of her this spring as I would like, but from what I have seen, she plays bigger than her frame and is always in 100% mode. I’d argue that, if she were a senior this year, she’d be a three-rotation pin player for the next level. Thankfully, she has another whole year to develop her all-around game and really focus on where her aspirations lie. Her athleticism should dictate her future, as we’ll get a better understanding of where she belongs once her senior season starts.

With coach Morales leaving UE, it is currently unclear what the state of EU is, and what role Ava might play there. That being said, Ava is one of the better outsides at making something out of nothing. Often in this game of ours, bad passes lead to bad setting. Ava will find a way to not only “better the ball”, but score points in multiple ways. Yes, there are errors attached from time to time, but I’d much rather have someone compete and try to score points than yet another free ball being sent over because of fear or lack of skill. Ava has neither of those traits, and will be a nice addition to a program looking for just such an outside.
