About Avery
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I play with a strategic attacking mindset built on leadership and teamwork. I focus on building a sound offense through smart positioning, precise passing, and high volleyball IQ—constantly reading opponents’ tendencies and adjusting in real time. I take pride in leading by example, keeping my teammates focused and confident, and maintaining relentless energy through adversity.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
My goal is to elevate the entire team’s performance by combining intelligent decision-making with competitive intensity and consistency on every play. My litmus test is if I am incrementally improving my game and supporting my teammates every time I step on and off the court, during practice or in matches.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
As a high school freshman, I am currently exploring volunteer services that advocate and promote increased awareness, knowledge, and participation of disabled and at-risk youth in outdoor endeavors such as fishing, hunting, camping, and conservation.
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
I’ve learned that true leadership starts with service—putting the needs of the team before my own. On the court, that means communicating with purpose, encouraging teammates through mistakes, and celebrating their successes as much as my own. I focus on creating a positive, disciplined environment where everyone feels valued and motivated to compete at their best.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
Yes — transitioning to a new sport pushed me to grow both mentally and emotionally. Moving from soccer to volleyball required rebuilding my skill set, developing confidence, and embracing patience through the learning curve. Playing up a year in only my second season of club tested my resilience and maturity, but it also strengthened my mindset.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a college / university that combines athletic and academic rigor—one that challenges me to grow not only as an athlete and student, but also as a person, teammate, and leader. I want to be part of a volleyball program that values discipline, teamwork, and integrity, while offering an academic environment that pushes me to reach my full potential on the court and in life.
