About Avery

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I would say I have a very determined mindset when I want something; I try my best to get it. I am very focused when im in a game and try to help my teammates if they need it. I hustle for every ball, and I try to be smart on where I place the ball on offense. When I'm on defense, I always move my feet with the ball to get a better angle and make sure I am always ready for it.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am a very helpful, kind person. I make sure to play my best and to remember it’s about having fun and not always about winning. I have a very bubbly energy when I’m with my close friends, and I always put others before me to make sure they're okay.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I got 2nd place awards from a spelling and drawing contest, I also got student of the month for my school. I do volunteer at the Boltenville fair in WI every year for 2 days.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have learned throughout my volleyball career that volleyball is about having fun, not always winning. When my team is in a game, and I see one of my teammates down, I always try to reassure them that they are doing amazing and to remember this is a team sport, not an individual one, and if my team is losing in a game I try my best to get my team back in shape and to make sure we keep our energy.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I broke my foot in March 2023, and in April 2025, I was injured with bruised vertebrae and unaligned bones in my back. I was also diagnosed with patellar tendonitis and an IT band injury in my left knee in March 2026; I still played through the pain, but all injuries had a very big impact on how I could play at those times.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that would fit me, one that would feel more like a family than anything, and one that would have everything I am looking for, such as the career path I wanna do, a place where I could play volleyball in college, and where I can get a good education.

Avery showed a lot of grit throughout the showcase. She was the type of player who found ways to get the job done. She shined on defense and never let anything past her without battling for the ball. The same went for her offense. If Avery got a set, she was working to do something smart with it, no matter where the set landed, she found a way to make it work for her.
