About Avery

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

As a libero, you have to be very reactive and fast on the court. I have trained for a long time to be super fast and reactive, which makes me a good libero. I can get any ball up on the court and I am very solid in serve receive. I have spent hours practicing my skills and it sure has payed off.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very strong mentally. I always push myself to the breaking point in any sport I play. When things don’t go my way or I don’t get a spot I want, I never give up. It just encourages me to work harder and get 100x better. I am a very happy person, you will never see me angry or sad at practice. I am one of the loudest girls on the court and go crazy when my teammates get a great kill or save.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in FFA and I have got got a green hand pin award and I was awarded a bronze for competing in ag sales at the state convention.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have really improved my teamwork skills since playing high school volleyball. I have learned that the only way to be successful as a team is to work together. I have had a ton of experience with that. I have always found myself to be the leader of the court whenever and wherever I play volleyball.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

One significant challenge I faces was one I found out I had melanoma skin cancer on my back. It wasn’t very severe, but I had to get it removed and sit out of volleyball for one week. It was supposed to be three weeks, but I couldn’t not play volleyball any longer.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a very highly competitive college, who has a great volleyball program. I am looking for a college that values hardwork and a positive mindset.
