Jesse Etter | Prep Dig Scout
Neilson is another in a growing list of high-quality, athletic volleyball players from Washington who are playing beach at the next level. The Mt. Spokane senior will play for Boise State at the college level as their beach program moves into the Big 12 Conference next year. The league will feature Boise State, Florida State, and South Carolina, joining Arizona, Arizona State, and last year’s NCAA Beach Volleyball Champions, TCU. Neilson works from the middle for Mt. Spokane, but she can deliver a kill from any spot along the net when the Wildcats need it.

Neilson plays middle for Kokua 18, a crafty group of players who are terrific beach athletes. Neilson will play on the sand for Boise State in the fall, but she helped Kokua rattle off runs at PNQ with her strong play at the net. The Mt. Spokane senior has excellent all-around skills; she is comfortable playing defense or stepping in to set a ball if needed.

Neilson is an indoor and beach volleyball prospect who recently verbally committed to play at Boise State University. She played the unique middle blocker/middle back for Mt. Spokane, passing, attacking from the pipe, and controlling the net during her front-row rotations. Neilson’s versatility from years on the beach shone brightly; she played with terrific feel and manufactured points in multiple ways for the Wildcats.

Neilson was impressive for Renovators at Evergreen Regionals, playing a mix of outside and middle and showing off a strong overall game. The Mt. Spokane sophomore has a live arm, she can rip a swing to the angle or down the line- then show good touch when she plays an off-speed shot. Neilson competes hard as a defender and server, the 2026 prospect continues to develop in all phases of the game.

Mt. Spokane is another team retooling, replacing multiple seasons of talented Ama and Allen siblings who set a high bar of success for the Wildcats. Neilson saw spot time as a freshman last season, her development was rapid during club and she is now a main option on the outside and the middle as a sophomore. She has excellent vision and feel for the block, and can turn her swing to score on a quick tempo or a medium tempo 2 ball. Nielson continues to develop defensively and in serve receive, and has the bend and athleticism to play in the back row.

Neilson was part of the Renovators 15’s during the club season after seeing time on the court for a talented Mt. Spokane team during her freshman year. She has excellent vision and a feel for scoring, whether it’s a big swing or poking the ball to the empty spot on the court. She was featured on the outside for RVC Jake, and that move paid dividends by taking advantage of her quick transitions and natural swing. Neilson was just as effective a blocker on the outside as the middle, she can play either position at a high level.

Neilson is getting a chance to work in serve receive and attack from the pin during the early part of the season for her RVC Jake team. She has shown the ability to take an out-of-system set and put the defense in a tough situation while keeping her error rate low. Playing at the pin versus middle as she did for Mt. Spokane during school ball gives her RVC team formidable size across the front line. She is already showing an ability to adjust to a set that is tight or brings her inside, there is the possibility she sticks as a six-rotation outside position moving forward.
