About Braelyn
Expert Analysis
Austin Kingsley | Prep Dig Scout
We’ve seen Martinsen excel in the state tournament arena before, and her production with Elgin Public/Pope John hasn’t wavered since then. In fact, this hard-hitting attacker has elevated her game to produce over 250 kills as a junior. Martinsen has embraced the expanded leadership responsibilities of being an upperclassman and remains a mainstay in EPJJ’s back row. Her influence will only grow as a senior, making Martinsen a compelling prospect among Nebraska’s rural 2027s.

Elgin Public/Pope John has not lost any momentum since its unexpected run to the 2023 semifinals. Rather, upperclassmen like Martinsen are getting even better. This experienced terminator has upped her scoring average by over a kill per set this year, putting out 2.9 kills per set for the Wolfpack this fall. Martinsen is in the running for the team lead in digs, too. Six-rotation talents are often game-changers on the small-town scene, and Martinsen will be that player for EPJJ this October and beyond.

Martinsen’s positional versatility makes her a name to watch heading into 2025. She’s listed as a middle blocker and takes a high volume of frontcourt swings at that spot. However, Martinsen is also a back-row mainstay for Elgin Public/Pope John and compiled over 300 digs during her sophomore campaign. Six-rotation middle blockers are a rare phenomenon, but we might have one on the small-town scene.
