Murch impressed when watching her run the show at setter for her club team at the USAV National Tournament this summer in Indianapolis. She was playing up an age group, but you’d never have guessed that with the maturity of her game. The eighth-grader was at it again when scouting her in a 6-2 alignment for two-time defending Class 2A state champion Denver earlier this month at the Waverly-Shell Rock Invite. Murch is technically sound with a soft touch getting the set to the attackers. She’s makes good decisions and precisely puts the ball in great positions for teammates to maximize their swings. Murch is sound in serve-receive and defending in the back row thanks to quickness and tight technique.

I wrote about Murch three months ago when watching her compete at the USAV Nationals in Indianapolis. She was playing up with 14U for a team that enjoyed one of the most successful seasons among Iowa squads in that age group. Hailing from a volleyball family, Murch’s ability take on setter duties as an eighth-grader this fall has helped a reloading Denver outfit by letting her older sister expand her game beyond the position as a hitter. Murch shows a great feel for the game, flowing smoothly with the match action and being in the right position to make plays. Her setting is precise and the defense is strong overall.

CIA 14s showed up at the 2026 USAV Junior Nationals with intention and left Indianapolis with their heads held high. Playing up an age group, Murch was a key reason why the Cedar Valley-based club finished fifth in the USA Division, deftly running the show just like her older sister does for the program’s 16U squad. Brehanna reads the court really well and flashes a natural feel for the position. She keeps defenses honest by mixing up her sets and locating advantages for the attack. Murch is a technically sound volleyball player with advanced skills.
