The setter position naturally puts leadership on display, and Brianna approached that responsibility with purpose throughout the showcase. Playing with unfamiliar hitters requires constant adjustment. Different approach speeds, different contact points and different preferences can make every repetition a new problem to solve. Brianna stayed involved in that process, worked to get herself underneath second contacts and continued trying to create opportunities for the athletes around her. Her effort was not limited to the perfect pass; the willingness to pursue the ball and keep the offense functioning was just as important.

What I appreciated most was the team-centered nature of her role. A setter can attract attention with a great dump or a perfectly located ball, but the position is ultimately about helping someone else succeed. Brianna showed an understanding of that responsibility through her engagement, communication and willingness to keep working through changing combinations. For a young setter, learning to lead without needing every moment to be about herself is a valuable foundation, and that approach fits naturally with the leadership and work ethic Avoli looks for in its Committed Athletes.
