Trout earned fourth-team all-state honors this past fall for a Center Point-Urbana team that took Mid-Prairie to five sets before falling in a Class 3A regional final at Wellman. She produced 219 kills (.253) and 44.0 blocks in 99 sets played. I’ve scouted Trout throughout the last few years but have not seen her yet this club campaign. It’s been a good one. She helped United 17-1 Elite win the Iowa Regional Tournament, which came with a National Division bid to this summer’s USAV National Tournament in Indianapolis. In watching her hammer out 32 kills in the regional at Mid-Prairie, there’s a versatile attack with the ability to end points on the outside, from the middle or in cranking out a swing on the slide.
