About Brookelyn

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I’m a fast-paced middle who loves running quick sets and keeping the tempo high. I work hard to stay up on every play and be an option for my setter. I’m always moving whether it’s closing blocks, transitioning fast, or staying ready for a quick attack. I take pride in reading hitters and getting solid touches on the block, and I try to bring energy and focus every time I’m on the court.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

Off the court, I’m more on the quiet side, but once I step on the court, I flip a switch. I stay focused, locked in, and always ready to compete. I like playing with intensity and keeping my energy up, but I also make sure to encourage my teammates and stay positive. I don’t need to be the loudest person in the gym to be a leader.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

Right now, I’m focused on school and volleyball, which take up most of my time. I’m always open to getting involved in more activities in the future, especially ones that help me grow as a person and an athlete.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I participated in my school’s Strut Week, which raised money for a woman in our community with a serious illness. I also played in a charity volleyball game to help support her. It was a great experience to be part of something meaningful and use volleyball to make a positive impact.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

During club season, I lost two people who meant a lot to me my cousin Ryder Lewis, who was only 16, passed away due to a stabbing, and just a week later, my teammate Ximena Duran also passed away. It was an extremely difficult time, but volleyball helped me cope. It became a way to stay focused, keep moving forward, and play in their memory.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a college where I can study pre-vet or biology, and compete at a high level of play. I want to be part of a program that’s competitive but also has a tight-knit, family-like team culture. I’m looking for a school that supports me on and off the court, and where I can contribute and grow as both a player and a person.
