About Channing

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Offensively Defensive. I was a setter in middle school and as a libero I have the ability to set out of system balls from anywhere on the court. I think this skillset keeps the game flowing and allows me to keep my team in an attack mode offensively even while playing defense. I bring a high energy attitude to the team and like to be a leader on and off the court.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I am very upbeat and have a very energetic positive personality. I believe hard work leads to a winning environment. Games aren't just won on the court. The work you put in off the court leads to the results you get on the court. I am very proud to be the only 2 time Iron Bruin Award winner at Rock Bridge High School for my work ethic and passion to make others around me better too.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I was named to the 2025 Academic All-State team in Missouri for Class 5A.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have always tried to lead by example. In 8th grade I was the Iron Grizzly Award winner for the player with the most work ethic, dedication to the team, and leadership. I won the high school equivalent to that award my 9th and 10th grade year as well at Rock Bridge High School being award the Iron Bruin Award. I lead working hard everyday and inspiring my teammates to be the best they can be.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I ran both cross country and track in middle school the same time I was playing middle school and club volleyball. I had to lead to manage my time effectively to keep my grades up while being a top competitor in each sport. This was challenging, but it pushed me to maximize my potential and use my resources I had available to accomplish my goals in sports and in the classroom.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking to go to a college or university that has high standards in both academics and sports. I believe both go hand in hand. Sports has taught me how to push myself to be the best I can be, and I want to play for a coach that values me not only as an athlete, but a person who can make a significant impact on my community while I am playing and after my sports career ends.
