The senior libero was very solid with her play on the backcourt and produced at a high level during the match. Cotten was excellent on defense, sliding from behind the block in the last second to get on the ball and displaying strong technical skills to perform digs – she led the team in that category with seven. She also did solid work in serve-receive, producing a team-high 14 passes and remaining consistent throughout the match. Cotten also set well in transition and communicated very well, often suggesting adjustments in their serve-receive shape in moments in which her teammates struggled.

Cotten and her MoCo Mavs 18 Adidas team are entered to compete in the 18 Girls division. Despite playing up with the team, she’s the anchor of their defensive system, giving the team a lot of stability when trying to keep the ball off the floor. Cotten is a very technical libero, who has all the tools to control whichever swings come her way, and she’ll do everything in her power to keep the ball off the floor, grinding to cover every inch in the back row. Also a solid passer, she is impressively consistent, delivering even when under pressure.

Cotten will be in action with MoCo Mavs 17 Red in the 17 Bid division. The trademark of her game is stability as she’s very consistent with her play and gives the team the defensive solidness it needs to face opponents. Cotten is very technical, but what takes her to another level is her ability to cover a lot of ground defensively, reading the game well and fully extending her body to get to the ball. The libero never holds anything back and will do whatever it takes to keep the ball off the floor.

Cotten switched clubs this season, going to the new MoCo Mavs, and immediately became the starting libero in their 17 Red team. The libero transmits a lot of stability and consistency to the team with her solid play on the backcourt and helps the team remain in rhythm with her contributions. Cotten has an impressive defensive range and works hard for every point, which makes the task of scoring on her a very difficult one. She can defend the middle and left back positions and is a solid passer as well.

Cotten attended our last showcase, in the summer, while in the final stages of recovering from a major knee injury and that alone speaks volumes about her determination and work ethic. Despite still being limited with her movement, she did a very good job and we’re all looking forward to seeing what she can do at full force next week. Cotten had an excellent high school season with Atascocita, regaining her match rhythm to become of the team’s pillars in their campaign. Capable of defending the middle and left positions on the back, she has excellent ball control and also passes at a very high level.

Cotten was another player who left a very good impression in our last Showcase, in December, and will be back for more. She plays with a lot of energy on the backcourt and does whatever it takes to get to ball and make defensive plays. Cotten’s positioning on defense puts her in good spots to make plays and she also does very well with her passing, covering a lot of the court and delivering well. She also sets well in transition when needed. After playing for TAV Houston last season, she will join the new MoCo Mavs club next season and will likely have a bigger role with them.

A very dynamic libero, Cotten stood out early on, still during warmups, with her high energy and determination to chase a ball. She never gives up on a play on defense and has excellent agility and ball control, getting a lot of touches on the backcourt. Cotten does a very good with her first contact in general and did well when she was served during the scrimmages. I also saw her setting at a very good level during the event.
