Expert Analysis
Mike Bryant | Prep Dig Scout
Evans’ (*pictured) floor leadership and distribution has been a big factor for her OPVC team this club season. She is good in her ability to contact the ball in a similar position when she gets her feet to the ball. This equates to good movement and force in her extension that allows her to set multiple options even when pulled off the net following the pass. She becomes even more efficient in her pursuit of the ball if she can slow her feet down to be stopped and ready near the net before the pass occurs so her first step takes her on a path directly to the ball without unncessary reaction or anticipation. You can next see Evans and OPVC 16 Supan compete at Summerfest in Columbus later this month.

Evans (*pictured) is a primary setter for OPVC 16 Supan. The CHCA product is a floor leader with good command of her team’s offense through a verity of options across the net. She pursues the set with quick footwork to get balanced with her hands high, which leads to force and extension adjustments to run quick middles as well as sling it to the pins to put her hitters into good situations.

Evans made a number of good, precise sets. She pushes balls toward the net. That includes a back set with little leaning. She needs some work on her control with first touches, but that will come in time. Evans said she’s been working on getting her jump set down and improving her communication.
