I saw Tyrrell earlier this fall in the Volleyball Slam and was impressed with her play. The thing that stood out during the expo was her growth in a few short months in shot selection. You can see she’s growing in her read of defenses and set placement in deciding where to go on the attack. She is steady in serve receive and defense.

After seeing Tyrrell at our showcase, there’s no question why she turned into a go-to left-side attacker for Olathe East this year. The sophomore, who competes with Power ‘ last=”]’] during the club season, is so efficient when tooling the block and is a frustrating attacker to defend. Tyrrell’s range will serve her well as she looks forward to taking another step forward in the spring.

The junior outside hitter remains the bread and butter for the Hawks against the Timberwolves. Tyrrell was utilized in any way, shape, and form on Tuesday evening. She came in as one of the kill leaders in the Kansas 6A classification based on MaxPreps and we can see why. Tyrrell used her size and power to force the ball down for kills on the outside and as a pipe option. She’s improved this season to manage her power on off-ball and displayed great decision-making to locate balls in the court to keep the play alive. She gets her team fired up with emphatic kills and huge blocks to keep the momentum on the Hawk’s side.
