Morgan continues to shine while sharing the setting duties for Shawnee Heights. She finished with 15 assists in the 25-14, 25-18 victory over Ottawa. She was not as big a factor on defense this week compared to last. She recorded three digs in the victory. She is ranked No. 23 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027. She also had the “Big Performance” for Kansas Sports Chatter and was featured on that podcast on September 18.

I missed seeing Shawnee Heights this summer at Seaman’s Kansas Klassic. So watching the T-Birds and Morgan is high on my list. Morgan can set and play defensive specialist. She is a high-energy athlete. I am not sure what the schedule will be yet for Thursday, but all four teams at this event are close enough that if I miss one of them Thursday, then I should still be able to catch them before the season is over.

Shawnee Heights is a program I usually see play at least once, if not multiple times. Morgan is a fiery athlete I have seen play a bunch over the past two seasons. She is ranked No. 21 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027. She could battle for the top setting position, or Shawnee Heights could use two setters, depending on the roster make-up. Morgan has also been working on her defensive skills for a possible transition to a defensive specialist. She recently participated in a camp at California Baptist.

Shawnee Heights will travel North to compete at Seaman High School. I am not sure I will get to see Morgan and her teammates compete in this event. Morgan has been a setter but has been getting personal training to improve her defensive skills to possibly play DS at the college level. I have seen her play multiple times, and she wears a smile every time she steps on the court. The Thunderbirds open play against Emporia on Court 2 at the high school in the 9:15 am window.

Morgan has parlayed solid performances at past Showcases to move up the rankings over the past two years. She is a solid setter who can also play defensive specialist. She has great touch as a setter and put in a ton of extra work outside of prep and club ball to improve her skills. She is currently ranked No. 21 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027.

Morgan is about as dedicated to the game as it gets. She recorded 332 assists during her sophomore campaign. Her workload for the Thunderbirds should continue to increase. She works hard during the offseason to hone her craft. She deserves to be looked at closely by college coaches. She has the potential to be a starting college setter or can develop into a multi-purpose utility player.
