About Codi

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I'm a confident, tempo-setting setter who reads the defense and distributes to the hitters pins, & opposites. I like to keep blockers off balance by mixing up tempo and location in an offense. I'm not afraid to take the second ball when it's there with a dump or tip, and I go up for blocks when I can make a play. Communication is constant and I'm always calling out what I see to help my team.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

As a multi-sport athlete I bring positive energy and stay mentally strong under pressure. I'm always working to master the game by studying film and learning tendencies. Communication is huge for me as a setter and I'm constantly talking to keep everyone connected. I believe volleyball should be fun, and I'm a team-first player who knows we win and lose together.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I'm part of the Broadstone swim team during the summer, where I've placed 1st in the 50 freestyle and consistently finished top 5 in multiple events for our league. I've also been a top 10 swimmer in the Sacramento area for the past few years. In middle school, I received the 'Mustang of the Week' award multiple times for demonstrating leadership and school values.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Playing JV as a freshman setter taught me to earn trust through consistency and learn from older players. I lead by listening first, then making confident decisions. My job is making hitters look good. I volunteer as a swim coach and organized animal shelter events and other school function as part of my leadership class during middle school, learning that leadership means serving others.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I've dealt with injuries that taught me to respect my body and recognize when playing hurt actually hurts my team even if I feel like I should be out there. If I can't give 100%, I need to communicate that to the coaching staff. I've also faced coaching favoritism, which pushed me to focus on what I can control: my work ethic and discipline, letting my game speak for itself.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm looking for a college with strong academics where I can challenge myself in the classroom. I want a solid volleyball program where I can contribute right away and continue growing as an athlete. The right fit for me is a place that values both academic excellence and competitive volleyball, with coaches who will push me to reach my potential on and off the court.
