Expert Analysis
Vernon Birmingham | Prep Dig Scout
Entering her senior year, Curry looks ready for a big finale at Iola. After a breakout junior season, her performance at the showcase showed she’s prepared to take on that responsibility. What stood out to me was Curry’s ability to use the block to her advantage and find ways to score. She may not be the biggest attacker on the court, but she understands how to be effective, using the hands of defenders and tooling the block rather than simply trying to overpower it. That ability to find different ways to terminate should serve her well as she takes on an even bigger role this fall.

Curry dished out a stark reminder of how many high-quality recruitable athletes remain in the Class of 2027. She brought a veteran presence to Sunday’s team drills, especially while showing off her pass-to-attack skills on the left side. The Iola senior was eager to take serve-receive volume and turn it into immediate in-system opportunities. We shouldn’t be surprised to see a MAVS outside hitter with a full suite of abilities. It’s a staple in the Kansas City area.

If Curry played in Kansas City or Wichita, she would be a household name. The Iola prospect registered a career-high 242 kills last season for the Mustangs, to go along with 326 digs. It was by far Curry’s most productive hitting season. She has a career total of 577 career digs and could make a run at the 1,000-career dig benchmark this coming fall. Curry is ranked No. 190 overall in the Kansas Class of 2027.
