About Danika

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

My gameplay style is very scrappy. I like to talk to my teammates and tell them that this spot is open, or their name to let them know that they can take that ball/it’s coming their way.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

My mentality in a volleyball game is to try and make sure everyone else is having a good time, and celebrate the little things each player does like say “good up” during a play “good swing” and stuff like that. I make sure that people don’t overthink and make sure they know that they are doing good.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am involved in powerlifting for my high school, my freshman year I made it to state and got 5th place, I also went to nationals but couldn’t compete in my weight class because I didn’t make weight. my sophmore year, I have qualified for State and Nationals once again. I am currently trying to work for making our high schools National Honor Society.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I have developed showing kindness to others, you never know what is going on in other people lives and you should treat them with kindness and respect. Growing up has also helped me find out just because you may be the youngest one in the room or not the most popular, every team needs a leader and you need to step up and be that leader that your team needs.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I have faced many significant challenges in my high school career so far. My freshman year of volleyball I suited up for Varsity and played as a DS but my high school coach half way through the season thought that I wasn’t quite capable for the varsity level, however, with hard work and tenacity, I was the 6 rotation starting Libero my sophmore year.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am looking for a college that will help me not only grow as an athlete but also as a student. I want to pursue a career in Ultrasound Technician/Diagnostic Sonography. I want a college that will help me meet new people and grow as a person.
