About Elle

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am a Class of 2029 OH/DS from Hilliard, Ohio who loves to compete, lead, and continue developing as a six-rotation player. I take pride in being coachable, hardworking, and a positive teammate on and off the court. I’m focused on improving my all-around game, especially increasing my jump height (goal of +10 inches this year) and arm swing speed, as I prepare for my second year of high school an

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm more like my dad when it comes to my mental state during play - I'm calm and focused. I get excited for my teammates, but naturally have a steady demeanor on the court. I've been playing since I was 9, and the one thing coaches have said that has really stuck with me is that "volleyball is NOT a game of perfection." I've learned to make a mistake and quickly move on.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

This year I was invited to the regional USAV NTDP, where I got to run drills with some of the best in the region. I was also awarded the Archie Griffin aware for my middle school. The Archie is the highest honor a student athlete can win, and I was then invited to an award dinner with other winners across the state. I finished middle school with a 4.0 GPA. I went to state for discus this year.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I've learned that being a leader is not just a title, but a mental state. My coaches always told me the team follows where I'm going, and I've had to learn that even when I'm not playing my best I need to stay positive and keep my team lifted up. This past season, we won the 8th grade tournament and brought home the trophy for the school for the first time EVER!

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

My parents were both Div 1 athletes, and so there has always been expectations by others placed on my brother and I. But I've learned I am my own person, and will find my own successes. My mom played MB, and played completely different than I do - and that's ok. I've realized I've even placed expectations on myself because of their past, and I need to carve my own way.

What type of college are you looking for?

My parents were fortunate to have their schooling paid for because of their sports, and have shared with me the financial jump start it gave them on the lives. I'd like to find a school that can contribute in a large way to my academics, so that I too can graduate and begin life with minimal student debt. I'd also prefer something in a city metro or within and hour of a major populated area.

Eckert made a good splash at the varsity level for Hilliard Davidson this past fall as she shared the team lead offensively at 2.8 k/s while earning a team high output in served aces. Although her high school team success was limited, expect her skills to produce a lot of points and wins for her Elite VBTC 15 Black team this club season. Her aggressive approach and arm shined recently at the MLK Extravaganza event as she was named to the all-tournament team during her team’s gold bracket runner-up effort.
