About Ellie

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I am currently in my 4th year of club volleyball and have played on a top team every year. This year, I am fortunate to be on an elite team, Armor Elite 14N1. We have an amazing team and fantastic coaches! My position is setter. I love playing! I have played 4 years of school volleyball. As an 8th grader, we won the championship which was a great way to finish Jr. High at Hope Christian Academy!

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I enjoy playing volleyball because of the camaraderie with my teammates. I like to have win and believe that makes it more enjoyable. I feel that I have a fun personality, but know when it is time to be serious, especially when we have a job to do as a team. I take my role as setter very serious, especially when it comes to the mentality of the game and making the right decision at the right time!

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I also have played golf since I was 5 years old. I have a hole in one and enjoy the sport. I would certainly consider playing two sports in college if it makes sense.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

As a setter, I have to show leadership skills and it is important to have a strong relationship with all of my teammates. I have been very fortunate to have great teammates, especially this season on the Armor Elite 14N1. We have won nearly all of our matches this year and are always playing teams much older including multiple 18 year old teams. I believe this makes us better!

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

The challenges I have faced in volleyball are learning that when your team gets down, you can still come back if you work hard. I have also learned that just by having a nice point advantage doesn't mean you should relax and allow the other team to close the gap. I think anyone in volleyball has seen this and it is important to stay focused and handle any challenge that comes my way.

What type of college are you looking for?

I want to play at a college that can utilize my skill set as a setter. I would like to play for a coach who will help me get better and enjoy having a coachable player on the team who will work hard to make a positive difference.
