Yes, Ellie is more of a defender for her current club squad. That being said, WHEN she gets a chance to swing, and she WILL swing, it’s a hammer. Not too many kids this size have as strong of a shoulder as she, and that high volleyball IQ in multiple positions leads me to believe that she’ll be seeing more recruiting attention because of her multi-positional abilities.

Known a bit more as a DS or libero in the club ranks, Ellie spent most of her JV season pounding on opposing teams with her dynamic athleticism and high volleyball IQ. Speaking of high volleyball IQ, she’s moved on from Pineapple’s regular squad to PHP, probably because of her solid ball control and situational awareness when it comes to passing and defense. Yes, her size might limit some recruiters from seeing the whole picture, but her live arm and solid passing will make some smaller schools happy to speak with her.

From a whole family of volleyballers, Ellie is currently tearing up the JV ranks at 4A reigning champ Carroll. Fluid and strong, Ellie’s ability to do everything well with pace and speed is her calling card. After a successful club season last spring, Ellie can be found on the 15s team at PHP, which is absolutely stacked with talent from northeast Indiana and beyond. Her size might turn some recruiters off, but her ability to play all parts of this game should give pause to those who write her off too quickly.
