About Ellison

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Disciplined, confident, adaptable, and supportive.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I'm a team player who believes you either lose or win with your team, and an athlete confident in my ability to play to win. I am disciplined in working towards both my academic and athletic goals.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am an avid member of Gunn's philosophy club and was accepted into Johns Hopkins's Center for Talented Youth (CTY) program with high honors. I also received the Gunn World Language Department Award in my freshman year for proficiency in my Japanese class.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

Through being an active member of the Fletcher Equity and Sustainability committees, I learned how to advocate for myself and foster change as a youth leader in my community. I've also volunteered with the Pacific Beach Coalition and through a mentorship program called ATE, where I learned how enriching it is to give back to our planet.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

After badly spraining my left ankle last summer, I was left unable to play for almost three months. However, I used the time given to me to work on my mentality and build healthier habits, eventually becoming a more confident, focused, and happy player.

What type of college are you looking for?

I'm interested in colleges with strong academic programs in law, philosophy, or psychology. As a student-athlete, I am both committed to my learning and competitive in my sport.
