There are times where I watch an athlete and see the commitment and it just makes sense.  That’s Ellyson Randolph.  The six rotation outside hitter for North Carolina Academy 17 Diamond is heading to Kentucky where there they have turned out numerous six rotation All American and pro players.  Randolph brings speed, athleticism, and a violent arm swing to the table.  She has a natural point scoring ability.  This Academy squad advanced to day two gold pools and will be ones to keep tabs on this 2026 club season.

In the AM wave, Ellyson Randolph put together a performance that you genuinely appreciate when you understand how demanding the six-rotation role truly is.

She carried a heavy load and did it with poise.

Offensively, she was efficient and controlled, terminating in transition while mixing high hands, sharp cross-court angles, and smart seam swings. Her approach was repeatable and balanced, allowing her to generate pace without sacrificing vision. She didn’t force swings — she earned points.

In serve receive, she was dependable and calm under pressure, delivering quality passes that kept her offense in system. That level of consistency early in the morning says a lot about her preparation and maturity.

Defensively, she extended rallies and transitioned quickly, showing the stamina and discipline required of a true six-rotation outside. After key plays, her energy was confident and uplifting — celebrating with teammates, reinforcing momentum, and leading with presence rather than emotion.

Kentucky knows how to find em.  Ellyson Randolph will be competing for Academy 17 Diamond out of North Carolina where her point scoring ability will put this team in the hunt for an early 17 Open bid.  Her contact point is high where she brings such a heavy swing from the pin.  At 6’2, she has the tools to really take over a match with an incredibly high ceiling at the next level.
